| i came home the other day to some alarm blaring away vaguely in the background. i snickered to myself and said, that sucker. as i was thinking that, i walked up the stairs to my apt, opened the door, and D'OH!!!! that was coming from my apt!!!! argh.
turns out that my smoke detector went off on its own. i didn't see any evidence of smoke, no damages, no signs of break-in. so hot weather?! the most annoying and loud sound was coming from my bedroom. i see a reset button on the detector, so no sweat. i pushed the button, nothing happened...then again and again. WTF!?! then i tried to take the thing off the wall...no luck. since my stepping stool and stable chairs aren't tall enough for me to stand on and reach the ceiling comfortably, i decided to call my taller guy friends...of course, none are available. but they tell me that i can just take out the battery. the first round of inspection, don't see any battery. call some other friends who i thought were tool savvy. also tell me look for a battery, square ish, 1 in size. take the damn thing apart and all i see are microchips.
WHAT BATTERY?!?! i seriously thought i was going NUTS!
so turns out, that there are smoke detectors that are operated, and then there are smoke detectors that are AC-wired in!!!!! so NO BATTERY!!!! b/c it's directly connected into the wall!!!
i'm not going krazy.

| this is it...after 3 years, i'm counting down the days of my residency, which officially ends 6/30. oh the memories...
| | |
| this was the last free weekend in my residency....and what did i spend it doing?!
1. ikea: how can you expect anything less?!
2. grunion run!!! WHAT an interesting fun time! it was so worth it to see grown men run along the beach, squealing after grunions :) and then get my car full of sand...and admitting to me that they were thinking about putting one down my shirt, but didn't fearing my wrath and the thought of possibly walking home from long beach back to park la brea....
3. temescal canyon hike
4. putting together the furniture i bought at ikea
what an eventful weekend!!!

| yes yes, i know i know....paul kim lost....FIRST to be kicked off on this season of american idol. but alas, there's still a filipino hopeful, A.J....(i think that's his name.) we shall see! still like paul kim's voice tho...definitely needs better song selection for next season. oh well, moving on to america's next top model.
i've been feeling old lately...not that i'm turning 29 next month, but rather, little things telling me that i'm physically falling apart. for example, just in this month alone, i almost fell twice in my shower...that just sounds like something little old ladies with osteoporosis do. then, i was hurrying after a pt, trying to give them a knee immobilizer, then lost my balance (damn dansko), and fell on my knee, got a bruise. also, left ankle with this bruise, that i have no idea how i got.
and did you know that finding meaningful things to keep your mind busy is EXTREMELY hard? sigh...
i'm in mourning.
